New Safety Feature in the 2012 GMC Terrain

You may be a safe driver, but unfortunately, there is no accounting for other drivers on the road; at least until now. American automaker, GMC recently released the 2012 GMC Terrain, and it's wowing drivers and critics alike. It features a wide range of technology both in the realm of convenience and safety, but the one feature that we think stands out amongst all else is the single-camera Crash Avoidance System.
That's right, in its 2012 model year, the GMC Terrain will feature a single-camera Crash Avoidance System, and it's something that we here at Mossy Motors are incredibly excited about. Why are we excited? Aside from the unparalleled amount of safety that this new system offers, there are a couple of reasons why it stands out as a must have feature.
First and foremost, there is its price. The new single-camera Crash Avoidance System can be had for a mere $295. At this price, there is no reason not to get the single-camera Crash Avoidance System installed, as the safety to price ratio is easily in favor of the consumer. Combine this with the fact that it uses only one camera, instead of multi-camera and laser identification warning system like other larger vehicles, and it's easy to see why this new feature stands out in such high praise.
"Image processing is the key to this system's strength, relying on software number-crunching to pull off what other manufacturers bulk up on hardware to do," according to the GM press release. "For example, at night, the system looks for pairs of lights moving together to help spot other vehicles, and vehicle speed, accelerator and brake application are factored in to help the system figure out what the driver's intent is."1
