GMC Sierra 3500HD Survives the Heavy Duty Hurt Locker Challenge

If you haven't seen The Hurt Locker yet, we here at Mossy Motors can't help but suggest checking it out. The Oscar-winning film managed to rack in 80 other awards and 50 nominations. If you're old enough to handle it's mature content, you'll find a heavy hitting war flick set in Iraq, starring Jeremy Renner, Anthony Mackie, and Guy Pierce among many others. As IMDb puts it, "...everyone is a potential enemy and every object could be a potential bomb."1

Maybe you're wondering where we're going with this? After all, this is a car blog, not a movie review site. Don't worry, we here at 1331 South Broad Street New Orleans, LA 70125 aren't quitting our day jobs for the glitz and glamour of Hollywood just yet. Rather, we're drawing your attention to The Hurt Locker because the movie represents the very definition of endurance. And, to truly consider the endurance, tenacity, and durability of some of today's heavy duty trucks, the people at PickupTrucks.com decided to design a seven-day long "Heavy Duty Hurt Locker" challenge.

First of all, we should mention that this has nothing to do with diffusing bombs. Rather it is the ultimate test of brute strength, and ability to push forward despite extreme adversity, which is something that trucks in the GMC Sierra lineup (e.g., GMC Sierra 1500, GMC Sierra 2500HD, and GMC Sierra 3500HD). For this test, the GMC Sierra 3500HD was put to the test, starting in Colorado and commencing in Nevada.

The landscape that served as a backdrop to this test was incredible, but the test itself was grueling. Against all odds, however, the HD offering from GMC outpaced the competition. It even managed to championed the 19,000-lb.-trailer-tow up some of the most intense grades in the country.

According to Mike Levine, Editor, PickupTrucks.com, the GMC Sierra 3500HD truck won by a long shot. "When we analyzed the data, the GMC Sierra 3500HD simply outperformed the trucks from Ford and Ram," he explains.1

Of course, if you can't simply take our word for it, then feel free to come take any Sierra model in the lineup for a test drive today. You can arrange a test drive for the GMC Sierra, or any other new GMC for that matter, simply by either calling us up at (877) 685-1266 or by submitting a contact form to us online.
